Bulgarian-Bavarian economic relations were in the main focus of a media breakfast at the Hilton Hotel, organized on October 8, 2009 by the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Representation of the Free State of Bavaria and the Hanns Seidel Foundation in Bulgaria.

Guest-organization of the traditional initiative was the Economic Policy Institute (EPI), represented by its Executive Director – Mr. Yasen Georgiev. After the short summaries of Mr. Mitko Vassilev, Ph.D., Executive Director of the Chamber and Mr. Bogdan Mirchev, Representative of the Hanns Seidel Foundation in Bulgaria, Sofia, Mr. Yasen Georgiev presented EPI activities, main projects and joint initiatives with the Hanns Seidel Foundation.

In the presence of officials from the German Embassy and media experts, Mr. Vassilev presented the brochure “Bavaria – Your Business Partner”. He also emphasized on the extremely dynamic trade relations between the two countries and pointed out that Bulgaria holds the 47th place in Bavarian trade which makes it a strategic partner in SEE. For the previous year the trade exchange between Bulgaria and the federal statethe two countries amounts to 664,7 million EUR.

Mr. Bogdan Mirchev devoted his expose to Hanns Seidel’s activities as a German political foundation and its efforts for promoting Bulgarian-Bavarian projects. In the field of economic relations he stressed upon the successful cooperation with the Economic Policy Institute.
